This article “Grillax, bro: I’m a feminist dude and I hate that I love to grill” is, amazingly, even worse than it sounds. The whole thing is a nauseating self-parody but in particular

[Grills] enable what scholars call homosocial contact, a kind of same-sex intimacy that deflects the supposed dangers of sexual contact between men but allows them to confirm their masculinity by excluding women. Grilling, in other words, allows these characters to cozy up to one another while still maintaining their understanding of themselves as truly manly men.

Yeah dude, for real. The thing guys do called “having friends” is actually gay as fuck when you think about it. Isn’t it pathetic how men need a grill to be in the picture so they can perform the activity called “hanging out” without admitting that there’s latent gay sexual tension in the air? People are so easy to see through, lol

The reality is that the SJ-tribe enjoys saying “lol, ur a fag” just as much as the anti-SJ tribe does, but instead of using it to condemn effeminate behavior, they use it to condemn masculine behavior. Such as “oh, you’re playing sports? ur running around with a bunch of sweaty guys chasing balls? yah totally hetero bro.” In both instances the intended and actual effect is the same - to dictate the roles people find themselves comfortable playing. And in this article we see the result - look at this guy’s intense anxiety, even guilt at the fact that he’s performing an action as innocuously masculine as grilling up some burgers and therefore “has become a bro”. What a pitiable state of mind.

that’s not………. how child speech works…………………………………………..

god okay in an attempt to be less of an asshole, here’s how child speech DOES work (or tend to work, at least)

  • kids tend to hypercorrect — this means that they tend to say things like “sleeped” instead of “slept,” “writed” instead of “wrote,” “goed” instead of “went,” etc
  • kids tend not to make errors such as omitting verbs (“i hungry”)
  • kids also tend not to make errors in the i/me, she/her department (“me am hungry”)
  • simplification of difficult sounds — consonant clusters especially, so things like st, sp, ps, etc., as well as f, v, th-sounds, ch-sounds, etc.
  • “babbling”-type utterances (“apwen” for “airplane,” using one babbly word for multiple objects, things like that) generally occur in children under the age of three and a half
  • say it with me: an eight-year-old child is not going to be saying “me hungwy”
  • do not confuse child speech with stereotypical learner english mistakes, that’s not only incorrect but also gross on the stereotypical learner english front (“me love you long time,” anybody?)
  • if you’re going to write kidfic please do some goddamn research

DO YOU HEAR THIS, WRITERS OF THE ENGLISH VERSION OF EUREKA SEVEN?????????

DO YOU FUCKING HEAR THIS????

I get emotionally attached to lyrics, like not necessarily a whole song just that one line that hits you in the gut and pulls out every emotion you can possibly feel and every time you hear that one line its like the whole world is okay for a few seconds.

This post is so beautiful, because if you go through the tags it’s thousands and thousands of people writing the lyrics that mean the most to them

I’ve heard of suicidal optimism, but never homicidal optimism.

Don’t like someone? Kill them. What’s the worst that’ll happen? The police come to arrest you? Kill them too. Just keep killing people, and it’ll all work out in the end. Guaranteed. Always look on the sunny side of murder.

I really want to put one of those speech-bubble character things here, but I can’t think of an appropriate character right now. Any ideas?
